Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
This policy explains what Bloom collects when you use it, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and what choices you have. "Bloom", "we" and "us" mean the team that runs the Bloom service.
What we collect
Account information. You sign in with Google or GitHub. We receive your email address, display name and profile picture from that provider, together with the provider’s identifier for your account. We also store the IP address you signed in from.
What you create and upload. The topics you ask about, notes you paste in, files you upload (PDF, text, Markdown and project files), the lessons Bloom writes for you, the passages you highlight, your questions and the answers you receive, your feedback and reflection answers, and the topic suggestions you save.
How you use Bloom. Which lessons you open and finish, and when, so that we can show your learning profile, streaks and calendar. We also keep your credit balance and every credit transaction: what credits were spent on, and when they were added or returned.
Orders. When you buy credits we keep the order number, product, amount, currency, status, time of payment and the email address that the payment provider gives us. We never receive or store your full card number. Card and wallet details are handled by the payment provider.
Invites. If you arrive through an invite link, or share your own, we store who invited whom, when, and whether the person invited has bought credits.
Cookies and similar technologies. We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. Your browser also stores your theme choice and, if you arrive through an invite link, the invite code for up to 30 days.
How we use it
- To run Bloom: sign you in, write and store your lessons, answer your questions, track your progress and keep your credit balance correct.
- To process payments and keep records of orders.
- To run the invite program, including showing inviters the information described below.
- To keep the service secure, limit abuse and fix problems.
- To understand, in aggregate, how Bloom is used so we can improve it.
Who receives your data
- An AI model provider. To write lessons and answer your questions, we send the text needed for each request to an AI model provider through its API. That can include your topic, your notes, the relevant parts of the materials you uploaded and of your lessons, the passages you highlight, your questions and your feedback. The provider uses it to produce a response, and its own terms and privacy policy govern what it does with the data.
- Sign-in providers (Google and GitHub). Your sign-in provider knows that you signed in to Bloom.
- A payment provider (Stripe). It processes your payment. For payments in CNY, WeChat Pay and Alipay are handled through it as well.
- Infrastructure providers. Companies that host the service and store its data on our behalf.
- The person who invited you. They can see your display name, profile picture, sign-up date and whether you have bought credits.
- Authorities and others, where required by law, or where needed to protect our rights, our users or the public.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and learning content while your account exists, so you can pick up where you left off. You can delete any course, with its lessons and highlights, from My Courses at any time. Order and credit records are kept for as long as we need them to account for purchases and resolve disputes.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to stop using it in a particular way, by writing to the address in the Contact section below. If we delete your account we may keep the order and credit records we need for accounting. You can sign out at any time, and clearing your browser’s site data removes your theme choice and any saved invite code.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect your data. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top.
